My expectations towards the apprenticeship:
I expected, that I would be able to repair automotive harvesters and haulers in every height. Additionally, I expected to maintain the machines, recognize defects and get to know the functions and connections between the single components. These wishes came true within my job being diversified, informative and interesting.
Tasks I like the most:
I particularly enjoy tasks like maintaining machines, looking for defects and carrying out repairs with machines of every height.
My highlight during my apprenticeship:
So far, my personal highlight has been the self-made processing of a repair order. It was of a CLAAS LEXION 660.
My daily routine at work:
My working day starts at 5:45am. We meet in the workshop room and talk about everything, that has to be done the current day. After that, from about 6:00 until 6:30am, I collect the shipment of the night from the warehouse and forward it to my colleagues. Then, I start working on my repair order. This usually takes the whole day. In the meantime, I confer to my responsible assistants, because they help me in case I have any questions. During the breaks, we use the time to relax and talk to each other. At 2:30pm, everyone is responsible for cleaning his or her workplace before leaving and going home.
Three qualities applicants should have:
At first, you need to have technical basics in order to, for example, maintain machines and carry out repairs properly.
Secondly, you should be able to work in a team: This is one of the most important features, because it enables you to solve your problems and have a lot of fun within a big team besides doing your job.
Thirdly, you should be honest: This is important in order to get the confidence of other colleagues and apprentices.
My prospects after finishing the apprenticeship:
After finishing my apprenticeship, I have the opportunity to upgrade myself to a service technician or to a master.
My application tips:
I would recommend you, to do an internship first. By that, you have the chance to get an overview of your job. Additionally, you should always be punctual, cooperative, interested and friendly.
An apprenticeship at CLAAS is…
…not only an apprenticeship. For me, it is my childhood ambition, which came true.
