My expectations towards the apprenticeship:
What I expected was that I would get to know a wide variety of departments and gain many different impressions. I always wanted to discover new areas of responsibility and find out what I particularly like. "New paths are created by taking you." This is an attitude at CLAAS, which is given to the apprentices at the beginning of their training and it is exactly the truth. By getting the opportunity to test ourselves repeatedly in different areas, everyone can find out for himself or herself, which field of work they are particularly interested in. Furthermore, I had hoped that the additional qualification as a foreign language correspondent would enable me to improve my language skills and use them in everyday life. This expectation has been fulfilled 100% so far and is once again a confirmation that CLAAS, as an international company, is the right decision for me. My overall hope was to grow both professionally and personally in the training and to work as closely as possible to agriculture.
Tasks I like the most:
Like most others, I primarily enjoy those tasks in which I can work independently and in which I am given a certain amount of responsibility. In this way, you feel integrated into the daily work routine as early as the training stage and are recognized as a fully-fledged colleague, who contributes to the work process. What I also particularly enjoy are tasks that require me to think along and that challenge me repeatedly. The third aspect I can mention is international cooperation. Through various events, such as the international CLAAS football tournament, which takes place once a year, CLAAS supports "networking" among colleagues from all over Europe and the foreign language skills of each individual. The additional qualification as a foreign language correspondent reminded me once again how important it is to use the language skills and how nice it is to be able to communicate with colleagues from all over the world without any problems.
The highlight of my apprenticeship until now:
Looking back, there was not only one highlight during my apprenticeship so far, because there were already many different special moments for me and every department has its own charm. Of course, the stay in Metz, France remains particularly positive in my memory. I had the opportunity to work and live in France for seven weeks, to get to know the culture, the country and the people. I faced new challenges every day and it was super exciting to get to know my favorite department from a different perspective. Furthermore, I had the opportunity to gain insights into agile development in Dissen at CLAAS E-Systems GmbH, which was very interesting in itself. In addition, I had the opportunity to give a presentation to my fellow trainees afterwards.
Qualities, applicants for an apprenticeship should have:
- Reliability: As trainees in most departments are given responsibility at a fairly early stage in order to be integrated into the daily work routine, it is important that they are aware of this responsibility and deal with it accordingly. Mistakes are allowed to be made, but they have consequences, and in order to keep these consequences as small as possible, it is important to always deal with them openly.
- Curiosity: A motivated trainee should show interest and always ask questions. Be open to new things and try to understand and question the subject. In most cases, initiative is seen as particularly positive.
- Openness: In an international company like CLAAS, you meet new faces every day. If you like to make contacts with a wide variety of people, such as customers or foreign colleagues, then CLAAS is the right place for you.
My application tips:
Be honest to yourself and have self-confidence. When hundreds of applications are received by the personnel department, it is an advantage to leave a lasting impression. Think about how you can individually design your application: Why is CLAAS the right company for you? And why are you the right applicant for CLAAS? If you have a genuine interest in the apprenticeship, are well informed, communicate this and remain honest, you will appear authentic and interested to the trainers and thus become a potential candidate.
My perspectives:
My apprenticeship at CLAAS has laid the foundation for my professional life. My goal is to successfully complete it with as many different impressions as possible and to become clear about the path I want to take in the CLAAS world in the future. I have already found my field of study, but what happens after the apprenticeship - whether it is a part-time course of study, evening school or distance learning is still up in the stars. There are no limits here.
An apprenticeship at CLAAS is...
...more than just a vocational training programme. Everyone becomes a part of the company and is given countless opportunities - what you make of it and which opportunities you take advantage of is up to you. For me, an apprenticeship at CLAAS is a career start that is individually designed and offers many future prospects.
